I think there is a need for a conservation minded person in this business. I have discovered some of the most beautiful places that I never knew existed.  Private landowners in the state are largely responsible for the care and conservation of many of these special places. Bill Finch, Rhett Johnson and John Hall have done an amazing job telling the story of longleaf – with a path to the future.

The longleaf pine ecosystem is one of the most diverse in North America, second only to the rain forest. This fire maintained forest of the Coastal Plain is experiencing a restoration movement lead by the Longleaf Alliance.  The book has been a work in progress since 2005 and was created as a celebration of the efforts of the Longleaf Alliance. We are very proud to have this book published by the University of North Carolina Press, they have done a remarkable job.
